Ransford History
Trusted for over eighty-five years

We trace our heritage back to Lee and Florence Huston, who moved from their home in Millington in 1925 and shortly thereafter joined with Chester W. Arms to create the Huston-Arms Undertaking Company. In 1930, Mr. Arms returned to the Clarkston area and his interest in the company was purchased by John Collon. Mr. Collon had thirty years of experience when he came to Caro from Bad Axe, and the partnership changed their name to the Huston-Collon Funeral Home. Although this partnership was not long lived, it introduced the two oldest names in funeral service in our area. In 1948, John Collon's son, Ben, joined our profession and founded the Collon Funeral Home. Around the same time, Lee and Florence Huston moved their funeral home to our present location on Sherman Street, known then as the Lee Huston Funeral Home. Richard Ransford purchased the Huston Funeral Home in 1972 and Chris Taylor joined Ben Collon to assist in their operation in 1978. Chris served as manager until Ben's death and through the ownership of the Deisler Funeral Home from 2001 until 2011. In June of 2011, the Deisler Funeral Home sold their interest in the Collon Funeral Home to the Ransford family, when the operation of both firms was combined under one roof. The merger of these two historic names represents a tradition of care that has come full circle. The combination of our traditional values with today's innovative ideas allows us to help the families within our community plan a ceremony that welcomes fresh ideas and personalization, coordinated with unsurpassable service.
